Time doesn’t stop and it seems unbelievable how long we have been in Bohemia. Originally, we planned to stay here for about 3-4 months, but our ideas didn´t completely coincide with reality.
Vision vs. reality
We wanted come back to the Czech Republic, find a job, work 6 days a week, reduce costs to a minimum and soon go another adventure. The plan was nice and now let’s see how it really was.
We found a job quickly (we can thank the fact that there is now a higher bid than demand) but the problem was that MEASLES DISEASE spread in Czech Republic. And our family was in quarantine for some time. For those who do not know this story, I will write in short: I started to work at one health center, at that time the flu epidemic broke out and the media pointed to the increasing number of measles infected. Finally, my “common flu” and later diagnosed chickenpox changed to measles and I infected the rest of the family.
Another point is that we wanted to work 6 days a week. I don´t know how to explain it, but I have to admit that it is not like when I was 20, I slept 5 hours and worked. Perhaps it is also the backward adaptation to another regime, the fact that we had a winter in the Czech Republic and also that I wake up at 4:30 am. After work, I write articles, make videos, prepare presentations, exercise or I´m looking for informations for our next trip and around 22:00 am lying in bed and sleeping within a minute. This mode is enough for me 5 days a week. I spend time with my friends or family at the weekend. Someone may argue that it’s normal and I don’t have children yet, so what I’m complaining about. I do not complain, I just justify why we stayed in the Czech Republic longer.
Martin has four brigades in comparison with me, but it is up to him how long will be at work. He hasn´t fixed working hours. But unlike me, she goes to work every day.
Last point: reduce costs to a minimum. For this point, my big thanks go to my family and the closest! It is impossible for a short period of time to rent a flat for a reasonable price and therefore I thank every day for my family. All have a big tolerance and keep the set rules, otherwise it would be almost impossible for three families to live under one roof.
We´re saving the money and learning so much more
Each of us is saving for something if he wants something (car, cellphone, purse, house, vacation, cosmetics, equipment for children, etc …), it depends on choice. We have on the list: air tickets, travel insurance, visas, handling the necessary documents, medical examinations and vaccinations. If you have a destination that is 1.5 times more expensive to live than the Czech Republic and you want to stay there for one year, you have to learn to control yourself.
You still have to keep in mind that if you want to buy something, you have to confirm in your head 3 times that you have decided well and you can afford it. But in some situations it is quite difficult. E.g. When you go out with your friends, the evening thrives and you know that the maximum you can spend is 250 CZK and you can’t go anywhere the next weekend. The same case is when someone buys a gift for you (you had a birthday) and you don´t want it, because you know that the biggest gift for you will be traveling abroad. On the other hand, you get into a situation where it is rude to not buy a gift on the same occasion for your friend.
On the contrary, thanks to traveling around Asia with a little backpack, perceiving the ecological problem of redundant waste and completing the 40-day Czech Zero Wase challenge, I must commend myself and Martin. We buy only a few basic things. Overpriced products are unnecessary and senseless throwing out of food is unimaginable to me!
What to say in conclusion
We have 5 weeks until our departure!
I think that this could be enough for the first article of our next chapter and a summary of six months in the Czech Republic. But don’t worry, this time it will be even more. Follow us on instagram and facebook where you can learn more about us because LET´S CONTINUE!
I look forward to you the next week with a new article 🙂
